Alzheimer's is the most common cause of dementia: a general term for a decline in mental ability that is severe enough to interfere with someone’s daily life.
Although dementia is a general term, Alzheimer's disease is a specific brain disease. It first affects the part of the brain associated with learning, which means early symptoms often include changes in memory, thinking and a person’s reasoning skills.
Alzheimer’s is a difficult disease to manage without the right professional support. Finding the right care home for your loved one in Hungerford is therefore key. Although symptoms are generally mild to begin with, as the disease progresses, problems with memory can get worse.
Our care home is specially designed and run to support people with this disease.
Located in Chiseldon, Seahorses Care Home Ltd has been supporting dementia patients for many years now.
We’re only 20 minutes away from Hungerford, making us ideal for families in the nearby area. Seahorses is not only located close to Hungerford but ideal for those in the Wiltshire towns of Marlborough and Swindon.
Our facilities include a home-from-home environment and supervision to help maximise someone’s physical, intellectual/emotional and social capacities. We encourage residents to bring their own furniture and belongings.
If you’re looking for a care home for a loved-one with Alzheimers, find out more about Seahorses Care Home Ltd or contact us today.

Review from A V (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 March 2024
My mother was resident at Seahorses for approximately two years. We were placed here by the hospital, as homes in Swindon were full. Any doubts I had about the home's suitability were quickly allayed. Mum soon settled into Seahorses and enjoyed the company of other residents, she especially loved the meals, which were excellent. Unfortunately, Mum caught Covid, but under staff care she pulled through. Mum's needs changed and she moved upstairs to a lovely room overlooking trees. The bright, warm and quiet accommodation was just right for her and family visiting at any time of the day always found her well, clean and with food and drink adapted to her needs. This week she was put on end-of-life care and I was grateful to the staff, who continued to show her care and deep affection. Thank you Seahorses for supporting Mum at the end of her long and fulfilling life.
Review from Kai V (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 29 March 2024
Seahorses was just the care home environment we were seeking; relatively small scale, friendly, personable family atmosphere. Every time we visited Seahorses the staff were so welcoming, friendly and reassuring. My mother-in-law was very much at home in the relaxed and caring environment created by the wonderful team.
Review from Paul P (Son of Resident) published on 29 March 2024
Very pleased with the care my Mum has received from day one. The home is small in comparison to some of the others we viewed but the service is more personal. The staff all know my Mum, they know her personality, what she likes and what she doesn’t. The staff are also fantastic with us (the family) always very friendly and communication is excellent. Would highly recommend it.
