Dementia is not only about memory loss but can also affect the way you speak, think, feel and behave. For instance, it can affect someone’s ability to regulate their mood, cause personality changes, and create difficulties doing daily activities.
Maintaining someone’s independence is often tricky when someone has this condition but it’s not impossible. It’s therefore important to find a care home where staff understand how dementia affects an individual and can tailor support accordingly.
Because symptoms can become worse over time, many families look for a care home which provides the support needed for their loved-one to maintain their independence.
Seahorses Care Home Ltd provides independent, residential dementia care, highly convenient for families based in the Wiltshire towns of Marlborough, Swindon and Chiseldon.
We provide dementia care in a secluded environment, ensuring our guests experience the privacy and peace and quiet they value. Located in the Wiltshire village of Chiseldon, our care home is in a well-connected area, making it highly convenient for visiting.
Our team always provides the most compassionate care to support your loved-one.

Review from A V (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 March 2024
My mother was resident at Seahorses for approximately two years. We were placed here by the hospital, as homes in Swindon were full. Any doubts I had about the home's suitability were quickly allayed. Mum soon settled into Seahorses and enjoyed the company of other residents, she especially loved the meals, which were excellent. Unfortunately, Mum caught Covid, but under staff care she pulled through. Mum's needs changed and she moved upstairs to a lovely room overlooking trees. The bright, warm and quiet accommodation was just right for her and family visiting at any time of the day always found her well, clean and with food and drink adapted to her needs. This week she was put on end-of-life care and I was grateful to the staff, who continued to show her care and deep affection. Thank you Seahorses for supporting Mum at the end of her long and fulfilling life.
Review from Kai V (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 29 March 2024
Seahorses was just the care home environment we were seeking; relatively small scale, friendly, personable family atmosphere. Every time we visited Seahorses the staff were so welcoming, friendly and reassuring. My mother-in-law was very much at home in the relaxed and caring environment created by the wonderful team.
Review from Paul P (Son of Resident) published on 29 March 2024
Very pleased with the care my Mum has received from day one. The home is small in comparison to some of the others we viewed but the service is more personal. The staff all know my Mum, they know her personality, what she likes and what she doesn’t. The staff are also fantastic with us (the family) always very friendly and communication is excellent. Would highly recommend it.
