Outdoor exercise possibilities
For someone with dementia, getting out and about (with their carer or relatives) can produce physical, psychological and social benefits. Although any form of exercise is beneficial, when it is taken outside, exercise can be even more so: it helps improve sleep patterns, reduce restlessness and agitation and stimulates awareness. With Seahorses being so close to Marlborough and Swindon, guests have (If they wish) plenty of interesting options to choose from.

Marlborough, in the north east corner of Wiltshire, is the archetypical English market town – a place where coins were minted in Norman times, Tudor kings hunted for deer and where coaches heading west from London stopped to feed and water their horses.

It would seem, therefore, that Marlborough was at the heart of things in days gone by. And although Britain’s coins are now turned out in London, the coaches fill up with diesel and your venison comes straight from one of the town’s two splendid butchers.

There’s plenty of accommodation, good shopping and a wide choice of places to eat. So all in all, Marlborough is a great place for a long or short weekend break at any time of the year. Because Marlborough is a market town - yes you guessed it - on every Wednesday and Saturday the High Street hosts a market selling all kinds of stuff from locally grown produce to pots, plants, pashminas and pottery.

Days out
Chiseldon village—where Seahorses is located—sits on the edge of the Marlborough Downs. The village of Avebury, famous for its standing stones and just over 5 miles west of Marlborough and within a World Heritage Site, can make for an absorbing morning or afternoon trip.Having a choice of gentle, rolling downs, the Savernake Forest, ancient monuments and towns to choose from, is for guests who enjoy being outside, an important aspect of coping with their condition.

Review from Carol S (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 July 2022
The family are so grateful for the level of care and professionalism shown towards our mum. Such a lovely ‘home from home’, with staff that feel like family and anticipate every need. Home-cooked food that Mum wanted to eat and just the right level of support at every part of the dementia journey.
We feel lucky to have become mum's‘ children’ again, all the care worries taken away.

Review from Ursula P (Wife of Resident) published on 27 January 2022

My husband has been at Seahorses since 25th November 2021. During this time, I have witnessed a very caring staff who respect the resident's variety that dementia reflects. They are welcoming to family when visiting.

Review from C P (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 January 2022

My father has been at Seahorses since mid-November, just over 4-weeks, and I feel he is being well looked after. The care staff are really good with my dad, and all seem genuinely concerned for his welfare.
